Dates for your diary
At last, the moment we’ve been waiting for – well, not quite. The first event at the much talked about Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre is finally timetabled for Saturday 2nd September.
The centre promises to open its two new theatres very soon - as well as state-of-the-art facilities for music and dance.
But one step at a time. The Manu Chhabria Arts Centre is the first to open its doors for people who want to enroll in arts courses. “It’s a soft opening for course registration and for people to have a look around” says General Manager Lori Dorman.
In fact what you’ll see on Saturday (apart from the extensive library) is an exhibition of teachers’ work - fine arts, sculpture, jewellery and mosaics. 89 courses will be available and featured arts courses have a start date of 16th September.
But although you can enroll for the performing arts courses, they won’t start until after the official gala opening of the theatres, currently timetabled for November.
Registration is open from 9am to 10pm throughout the week. For more information on what’s available call 04 3414777, or pay the centre a visit.
It’s located on the roof of the Mall of Emirates (park at level 2 for Ski Dubai and look out for signs for Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre).
