Dates for your diary

This month’s Dubai Drama Group production is Oscar Wilde’s hilarious tale of romance and comic deception. There’s a dash of added intrigue when Wilde uses his own devastating brand of witty wordplay to highlight the foibles of the British class system.
Gwendolen loves Jack - but apparently only because she thinks his name is Earnest. Her mother - the terrifying Lady Bracknell - is horrified when she learns that Jack was adopted as a toddler when he was discovered in a handbag at a railway station.
In her opinion it is totally below the standards of her daughter to “marry into a cloakroom and form an alliance with a parcel”.
If you want to have an evening of pure theatrical pleasure with a humorous glimpse into the life of the Victorian upper classes, this play is a must.
It’s on at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (DUCTAC), on 7th and 9th at 7.30pm, with an additional matinee performance on the 9th at 3.30pm. Tickets are Dhs50.
