Dates for your diary

February sees the return of the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival. Now in its sixth year, there may be some contention about whether the headliners constitute anything like jazz but there’s no doubting the quality.
Perhaps the best-known face at this year’s festival is that of Robin Gibb, one third of the legendary Bee Gees. Robin will be performing live on March 1 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
Robin’s trademark ethereal voice has been a key identity in the Bee Gees sound and he’s molded his own musical identity with a number of solo releases too.
Also in the line-up is English singer-songwriter David Gray (pictured), known for hits such as Babylon, This Year’s Love, Sail Away and You’re The One I Love. Gray will be in concert on February 29.
On a more solidly jazz note, guitarist Jesse Cook and sax player Courtney Pine are also appearing during the festival (February 28 and March 1 respectively).
