The stones for the Zodiac sign of Capricorn are garnet, malachite, onyx, smokey quartz, green and black tourmaline and moss agate. For this article I have selected malachite. Malachite’s colour varies from dark green to light leafy green. The name malachite originates from the Greek word “malache” (mallow) as it reflects the colour of that plant’s green leaves. It is dense and non-transparent stone popular with the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans for jewellery.

Malachite is called the stone of transformation and aids in life’s changes and the path to spiritual evolution.

It can clear, activate and balance all chakras, particulary the heart chakra and can help to balance pure love, romance, relationships and one’s own well-being.
Malachite helps with good fortune, prosperity and abundance and has been used to aid success in business and protect against undesirable business associations.

Malachite is very protective stone, helpful for general protection, protection from evil, protection during pregnancy and childbirth, and is especially protective for children. Keeping a piece of malachite in your bedroom will help ward off nightmares.

Due to its energy absorbing properties it can be used to heal pain by placing the crystal over a diseased area. Once it has been used in this way, it’s important to cleanse this particular piece of crystal to prevent it becoming dull and lifeless. A malachite can be cleansed with the water and sun method or just placed within a cluster of clear quartz.

Malachite has a great cleansing effect of the entire system. Malachite water aids detoxification, removes blocked emotions and negative energies of the organs, blood vessels and lymphatic system.

The stone is helpful in the treatment of rheumatism, imbalances of the immune system and plays a role in regularising menstruation. Malachite is also used in the treatment of asthma, and corrects imbalances of the liver and kidneys problems, especially kidney stones. It is helpful with toothache and it is said to improve the eyesight.
