No time to get to the gym? Here’s seven quick-and-easy secrets to tone up and trim down.

UAEasy.com pictureIf you’ve got a growing family and simply can’t get out of the house and down to the gym, here’s a few fast and simple mini-workouts that will help you sneak some fitness into your hectic home schedule.

1 Grab a bottle: Every morning get your large bottle of milk, juice or water out of the fridge, lift and lower it five times, then switch arms. 
It’s a great way to strengthen shoulders and arms.

2 Play around: Take time out every day to play tag and kickball with your toddler. This will improve your fitness general stamina and make you more agile as you learn how to deal with those curved balls.

3 Shower power: Before your morning shower, do a dozen push-ups off the edge of the bathtub, then work your calves by standing on tiptoe while blow-drying your hair.
 Your arms and calves will soon have more definition and it will give you a really positive start to the day.

4 Cat and mouse: During TV commercials, don’t just sit there. If you’ve got a lively cat, chase it around, or if you’re off to make a cup of tea, do some mad disco dancing while waiting for the kettle to boil. It will get your heart rate up and it’s fun.

5 Lie in bed: If you don’t want to leave the warmth of your duvet as soon as you wake up, remember to leave an exercise band by your bedside. Before you get out of bed, grab the band and do shoulder, back, and leg stretches for about 15 minutes. This will tone your body while waking you up gently.

6 Kids crunchies: 
Get your toddler to sit on your tummy while you do sit-ups and ab crunches. They think it’s fun to balance on your stomach and you get extra strength-training.
 You get your shape back and play with your kids at the same time.

7 Take the stairs: 
Make a point of using the stairs not the lift wherever you’re going. Avoid the shopping mall escalators - no matter how pretty the view, the side stairs are a much healthier choice. If you’re at home, run up and down the stairs a few times a day. This will improve your stamina and give your legs a great shape.
