The Chalice Well trust in Glastonbury, England, is set to mark the arrival of the Winter Solstice by lighting a fire.

And it’s inviting members of the public to bring a flame, candle or lantern to help light this ancient symbol at a ceremony on Thursday, December 21, from 2pm-4pm.

The Chalice Well is one of the oldest continuously used holy wells in Britain. Archaeology has shown that the Spring was used by prehistoric tribes who inhabited this land, and for the last 2000 years we can be fairly sure that the site has been in constant use.
